Derek Chung

Derek Chung

President/Nomnisaur Wrangler

Derek got into game development the usual way: a steady diet of geek media and anime, a hatred of sleep, and an interest in co-operative storytelling. His background in psychotherapy reinforced his love of shared worlds and experiences. Derek lives in Ontario, where he is fueled by equal parts caffeine, beer, puppy cuddles and sleep deprivation.

Derek is the head of all things Nomnivore and EMBERWIND and the one you’re most likely to meet or play a game with at conventions. If you have a question about how a mechanic works, or want some ideas on how to incorporate the new system or settings into your work, this is a great time to ask!

Mathias Semmann

Mathias Semmann

Graphic Designer

Our Nomnisaurs found Mathias wandering the forests of central Germany. Recognizing his talent for design, they quickly boxed him up and shipped him back to headquarters to join the rest of Nomnivore’s peons. Now he spends his time buffing and polishing our new games to look extra shiny before they’re on your shelf. At least they keep him well fed and entertained with comic books.

Spencer Hayden

Spencer Hayden

Web Designer

Spencer Hayden simultaneously embraces and flies in the face of stereotypes as a barefoot hillbilly web developer from small-town West Virginia. This paradox of a man has been obsessed with computers and the internet since the age of 12, when his family bought their first computer—a magical time when AOL was A Big Deal™, and parents and siblings had to fight over the use of the home phone line.

Eventually this obsession, along with a strong aversion to corporate policies and red tape, lead Spencer to start his own IT business, Conducive Data, where music is always being played, shoes are frowned upon, and an endless thirst for knowledge is required. He now serves the IT needs of small businesses both near and far from his cozy home among the hills. Whenever he manages to stop coding and get outside, Spencer’s favorite activity is zipping through the mountains in his Miata on the way to a backpacking adventure.

Eric Weiss

Writer

Eric Weiss is one of the lead writers on EMBERWIND: The Skies of Axia and the Games Editor at Dorkshelf. We spends a lot of time thinking and writing about video games. Sometimes he even gets to play them.

Tim Snyder

Front End Developer

Tim started his journey of a thousand debug steps when he was five years old. He asked his father if he, too, could one day have his own web hosting. His father’s response was to point at a thousand-page tome of the secrets of HTML4 and utter two words: "Earn it."

Fifteen years later, Tim went on to begin professional work as a web developer, specializing in the space where user experience meets business logic. He’s worn several hats in the seven years since: production artist, front end developer, frothing berserker, cyberpunk hacker, and UI engineer.

When not coding, Tim enjoys tinkering, storytelling, and the occasional dagger fight as he pursues the "Number One Headband".

Lance Turturice

Social Media/Public Relations

What do you get when you mix science, philosophy, music, and media arts? You get our newest Nomnivore-in-training, Lance Turturice! Lance comes to us from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he has worked on social media and user experience projects for local businesses. He’s also been lucky enough to work on a NASA satellite mission, which we think is pretty cool.

When he’s not creating digital magic, Lance is probably doing something with music. A singer since middle school, he currently performs with the Pittsburgh Concert Chorale and has been part of a concert tour to Austria and the Czech Republic. Between all of this he still finds time for gaming and regularly runs RPG campaigns.

Lance is working his magic on our social media presence and helping us make sure that what goes online works for you. We haven‘t decided what RPG class Lance is yet, but we’re guessing it’s some kind of bard.
